had two conversations, totalling 6 hours, with my neighbour upstairs in two days. The first day, I was quite... interested. Hence the ensuing conversation this morning. then I got bored. He is so average. Like right at the median average. Like I'd find exactly 50% of men better than him (in any respect) and 50% worse than him. Average men are not boring, uninspiring, or unexciting. That's not the definition of 'average', although of course these traits are not mutually exclusive. Average men are not courageous. That's my definition of 'average'. As hard as I tried (?), my neighbour does not seem interested in me at all. (Huh). He's married, at age 35-36, and have a newborn of about eleven months. Unaverage height of 188cm. Otherwise, 'software-wise', he's utterly average. Average men do not cheat, do not even think about cheating. They may be tempted--they may even share ice cream with a young female neighbour. But they won't cheat. Because cheating requires some confidence--confidence that you won't find out, that you'd have some safety net even if you were found out. People who cheat are not average. I never said being average is a bad thing. But damn, since average men won't cheat, I'll never know what that's like.
